How’s This Gonna Happen?

How’s This Gonna Happen?

Several years ago, before I became the Pastor of Epicenter Church, I owned a landscaping company. Much to my chagrin, I remember a day it was over 100 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. We had the daunting task in front of us to install 100 pallets of centipede grass (that’s over 50,000 sq ft). Each roll weighs approximately 50lbs and there were over 5000 rolls of grass to be installed in a meticulous pattern. If this grass was not installed by the end of the day because of sweltering temps it most likely would perish. Needless to say the task was daunting. I was gripped with the question, “How’s this gonna happen?”  But with a crew that worked together we overcame the odds and won the grass battle.

In Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus talks about another daunting task. “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” When you read this passage of scripture, you sense in the heart of Christ that the task was enormous when it comes to seeing people saved. But in His ability to give hope, Christ gives us the answer to the challenge.

First-The harvest belongs to the Lord. He says “ask the Lord of the harvest”, we are just His conduit and he challenges us to lead, to witness, and to share the good news. What’s beautiful is that when we do our part, God does the rest and the best!

Second- The supernatural happens! A supernatural force raises up others to help us when we are trying to reach those who are far away form God. That’s why this scripture says to pray and God will send the laborers. That’s the cry of Epicenter Church! It’s not just my job to lead. My job priority is to lead you to as you lead others.

Third- Serve is the hidden word! It takes many people who are willing to serve in the fields (malls, office, schools, homes, neighborhoods, baseball fields). If we want to save souls before they perish we must serve while there is still time. With two-thirds of the world not knowing Christ, there is a huge harvest field.

So how’s this gonna happen? How do we succeed? How do we save lives? How do we change a community? Together. Can we count you in?
